You Are a New Creation: an excerpt from Darrell Benton’s New Book “Heal the Sick”
I recall while reading the Bible when I first gave my heart to Jesus in 2005, a lot of the scriptures didn’t make sense to me. For example 2 Corinthians 5:17 says, Therefore if any man be in Christ, “he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” Now as a newbie immature Christian I didn’t see or feel any change in me. I still had pride, I still cussed occasionally, I didn’t love everyone, and I had plenty of negative thoughts. At the time, it didn’t seem like all of the “old things” as this verse states, had passed away. The enemy loves to tell us lies he knows will keep us from God’s promises. Some of these lies may be statements such as, “The Bible is not the complete truth,” “This is not for you,” “You are not worthy,” and so on and so on. A question I asked myself a lot when I first received salvation was, how come we don’t feel like we are a new creation at the beginning of our walk with Jesus? I wish that someone had taken the time to explain this to me. For this reason, I’ve decided to do this very thing for you through the use of scriptures.
